I was lucky enough to catch an exhibition of photographs by Vivian Maier here in Barcelona. Her life story is fascinating. As the nanny to three children she essentially hid her photography from the world and it wasn’t until it turned up in a thrift store after her death that the sheer scope of what she had created became apparent. You can read more about her life and work here.
Her work is beautifully composed and balanced and full of joy and sadness. As for the exhibition, my favourite piece was this one of a man riding a horse through New York City. Photo (not doing any justice to the work) taken by me at the exhibition, with permission.
